Museum Days honors one of Indiana's own
Attention all James Dean fans - Museum Days, now in its 31st year, kicks off on Thursday, September 21 in downtown Fairmount, Ind.
The four day event, which attracts the attention of tens of thousands of Dean fans from around the globe, gets underway this Thursday at 5 p.m. with the Pre-James Dean Run Downtown Main Street Car Show and Kick-Off party.
According to Gale Hikade, president of the Fairmount Historical Museum, approximately 43,000 people attended last year's festival. The annual car show, which features roughly 3,000 cars from the 1950s, is now in its 27th year and remains one of the festival's biggest draws.
The four-day event offers something for Dean fans of all ages, including a 1950s fashion show, a dance contest and the popular James Dean Look-A-Like contest. Last year's look-a-like winner, Jimmy White, will act as the Grand Marshall for this year's Grand Parade.
The 31st Annual Museum Days - Remembering James Dean Festival runs through Sunday, September 24. Admission is Free. For more information, visit the official Web site of the
Fairmount Historical Museum.
