CMG Worldwide, the business agent for the estate of James Dean, is currently working with a select number of licensees for elite programs related to the 50th anniversary of Dean's death in 2005.
Among these programs, Warner Bros., the studio with whom
Dean was under contract at the time of his death, will be releasing a special
edition 50th anniversary DVD box set with Dean's three movies, "East of Eden," "Rebel Without a Cause" and "Giant." Dean posthumously received Best Actor Academy Award nominations for "East of Eden" (1955) and "Giant" (1956). The box set will also include "James Dean: Forever Young," a new documentary on Dean's life and career. After several years in the making, "James Dean: Forever Young" will have its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2005.
While many of the partnerships for the anniversary are still unfolding, feature plans involve a major movie studio, airline and media corporation, the employment of cutting edge technology for the event, and include domestic and international travel packages.
